Trains at Christmas

Here’s the train in action

Yesterday we spent the day at Mom and Dad’s for Christmas.  Mike, Robyn, and Alyssa were too, of course.  We had a great day just spending time together.

Mom wanted Mike and I to set up the electric trains we had when we were kid, so we hauled them up from the basement and put them together.  They still work after all of these years.  I think I had more fun with them than anyone expected.

I’m kind of a productivity geek, but this pretty much sums it all up.  The idea is that if you start to procrastinate or get distracted, just look at this picture and imagine Henry Rollins yelling at you.  Works.

  We went yesterday and cut down our Christmas tree and put it up and decorated it today.  A few pictures from yesterday are up on Flickr.  I know it is not the environmentally friendly thing to do, but I enjoy putting up a real tree.  It smells like Christmas.  This is pretty early for us to put up our tree, but this is the best weekend to get it done. 

Slowly but surely I’m getting in the holiday spirit.  I am a pretty big scrooge usually, but this year I’m making an effort to enjoy it.  So far so good!

I made some changes to the sidebar today, some of which you will notice and others you won’t.

1. Added Facebook and LinkedIn links.  If you are on either of these services, click on them and let’s be friends.
2. Updated the last.fm box.  I never did like the old widget, and this one seems to work a lot better.  Now you can see what I’m listening to.
3. Added a “Joes Goals” box.  You can see how I am doing sticking to my goals.
4. Add hCard info to the blog, so you can easily grab my contact info from the site.  If you don’t know what this is, don’t worry about it.
